2005 Sauvignon Blanc

The Kelley & Young Sauvignon Blanc exhibits flavors of ripe grapefruit and honey melon with a clean mineral mouth feel and a citrus finish with just a hint of anise and vanilla oak.

The grapes for this wine were grown at Robert Young Vineyards on a high-density Smart-Dysan trellis system.  This trellis system opens the fruit to  ideal sunlight exposure and allows for uniform ripening.  This whole-berry ripening helps alleviate the vegetal character sometimes found in Sauvignon Blanc.  The grapes were hand picked, whole berry pressed, fermented in stainless steel and aged for 12+ months.  Some of the wine was aged in French oak barrels and blended with the non-oaked wine before bottling.  We bottled on March 23, 2007 and bottle aged for 6 months before release.  We present this fine wine to you and hope that you will agree, this is one of the best  Sauvignon Blancs you’ve ever tasted.  605 cases produced.

“”We can always gauge our enthusiasm for a new wine by looking back at our tasting notes, and this one sure had our tasting panel hot and bothered! It sports a giant nose of pink grapefruit, melon and fruit with a pretty herbal undercurrent. Clean through the palate, it reminds us exactly why we like drinking great “SB” so much in the springtime. Only 600 cases made. “
